Furtive
Furtive is a punishing cooperative rogue-like, with an emphasis on power fantasy, developed in Unreal Engine 4.
Players traverse collapsing worlds, following a trail of decay and destruction through rifts to unknown destinations in hopes of finding and destroying the source of the calamity and saving what remains.
Initially frail and mundane, and with a single life to overcome unknown dangers, players will find artifacts, powers and resources in each world.
Players must be resourceful and adapt to their evolving form to avoid a permanent death. With each death comes a new existence: a new character, new worlds, new dangers, a new adventure.
Project team consists of myself and a very talented artist.
Technical challenges:
Procedural generation and optimization for runtime generation.
Internal systems and designer facing tools to help author interesting procedural adventures.
Smooth multiplayer experience on non-dedicated servers.
Adaptive AI that can properly navigate and create interesting decisions for the player in a procedural environment.
Leveraging technical art (mostly shaders and dynamic lighting) to reduce the art pipeline, allowing us to remove the necessity for diffuse and normal map textures.
Dream or nightmare
Dream or Nightmare is an asymmetric multiplayer arena game, with a focus on cat-and-mouse gameplay, developed solo in Unreal Engine 4.
Set in a dormant mind, five protectors try to locate dreams encased in crystals and then escort them to safety all while being hunted by the Nightmare.
Protectors are invisible to the Nightmare unless near a crystallized dream. Protectors must put themselves at risk to retrieve the dreams but can leverage multiple assaults, mobility and decoy tactics to overcome the Nightmare.
The Nightmare can take on two forms, one for scouting and saboteur, the other for hunting. The Nightmare’s goal is to devour the Protectors and infect the dreams.
